Micro waterjet cutting with the Flow Nanojet machine
Micro waterjet cutting for cutting tools began with IAM Micro sourcing and contributing stainless steel from sheet, followed by the primary cutting process using the Flow Nanojet machine technology. A notable feature of this case is the standard clamping, which eliminates the need for additional tooling. After cutting, dimensional measurement was performed by imaging to ensure the required accuracy, in this case, for a batch of 10 units.
IAM Micro's process continued with cleaning and packaging, with a five working days delivery deadline. In this case, IAM Group also handled subsequent machining and assembly processes after cutting the cutting blades.
Micro waterjet cutting: efficiency and precision for cutting blades
Micro waterjet cutting offered an optimal solution for the blades the requesting company requires, especially in precision and efficiency. With dimensions of 70 mm x 30 mm and a thickness of 3 mm, a demanding tolerance of +/- 0.05 mm was necessary. Additionally, the unique stainless steel required precise adjustment between the two parts of the blade, a requirement achieved thanks to the precision of micro waterjet cutting. For this reason, micro waterjet cutting emerges as an alternative that replaces electroerosion in this case, which would have incurred a budget up to four times higher.
