EDM in the creation of food moulds

EDM in the creation of food moulds

In Grupo IAM the manufacturing process of container crates using wire EDM erosion is an excellent example of how modern technology is revolutionizing the industry.

Using precision cutting techniques, these moulds/packaging are an example of how technology and innovation can work together to produce high quality results.

Wire EDM Manufacturing Process

The process allows for a unique and stylish cone design with angled cutting. This design, although visually appealing, involves technical complexity in the control of the various operations involved.

The know-how of this process highlights the skill required to maintain consistent, high-quality production.

At the start of the process, the starting point is an aluminium block. It is machined on the outside, and the inside is wire eroded

EDM is an advanced technique that allows precise shapes and designs to be obtained, guaranteeing an impeccable finish.

Given the level of detail and precision required, the manufacturing time can vary between 2 and 3 days.

Final Product

At the end of this process, we obtain a mould from which the customer can manufacture the container ready to be used. Its main application is as a thermoforming mould.

The final product is basic for the food sector, guaranteeing that food is stored safely and efficiently.

The process of manufacturing crates for packaging is a testament to the technological advancement in the manufacturing industry.

With a combination of precision, design and functionality, these crates not only serve their primary purpose in the food sector, but also stand out for their quality and unique design. It is a testament to the companies' commitment to innovation and manufacturing excellence.
